Why don't people listen
I have two jobs. I am a travel agent which is the job I love and I work in hospital which is the job I hate but it pays the bills.
Last night I was working at the hospital and there is a patient that was transfer from another dept to our floor and this patient keeps leaving the floor to go outside and smoke. We have told this person that they are not to leave the floor because if something happends to them like passing out, have a heart attack, no one would know.
Now I had to deliver some records to another dept and low and behold guess who was getting off the elevator as I was getting on. The patient this makes the 5th time in a 4 hour time period. I went up to the patient's floor and told the nurses station that their patient was on the 1st floor. The head nurse proceeds to tell me that she gives up. The patient knows not to leave the floor and at this point in time she is not fighting with the patient anymore.
The elevator doors open and the patient comes out and hears the head nurse comments and comes to the desk and says I can't say goodbye to my family.
I said I am sorry you are not allow to leave the floor.
Then the patient repeats the same statement and I repeat my same statement and the patient mumbles something and goes to the patient room.
As I stood there thinking what a ass hole. I should have said If you are feeling well enough to leave the floor you need to go home. You are taking up a bed that someone who is really sick could use.
The more I think about this person the more piss off I get.
Truly sick people don't agrue with the nurses they usually are thankful they are there to help them. I know no one wants to be in the hospital but why would you purposely be nasty to the people that are taking care of you.
My thoughts about this patient are what waste of time and energy this person needs to look around and see what true sickness really is. Maybe they would straighten up and act like an adult and not a spoil brat.
People need to listen it's not hard just listen and maybe life would be easier for all of us,
