Wishing I was somewhere else Wednesdays #2

This week I wish I was in Toronto Canada......

Toronto means where the trees stand in the water.

Toronto is one of the most mutlicultural cities in the world. There is Little Italy, Chinatown, Greektown, Little Jamaica , Cabbagetown and many more to experience and enjoy.

There is plenty to do and see while in Toronto. If you want a Broadway show you can find it there are shows like Rent, Hairspray, Chicago and Lion King just to name a few that I have seen on my many trips.

The American film industry considers Toronto to be Hollywood North. Many movies and shows have been filmed in Toronto like the X-men, Queer as Folk and many car commercials if you look closely you can see popular Toronto landmarks.

One of my favorite place to visit is Casa Loma. This a castle that sit on top of a hill that looks down over the city. It is beautiful building and is worth your time. For the comic book fans the first X-Men movie was filmed here. The film makers showed a lot of the rooms and gardens just as they are so you could sit where Iceman sat or walk the gardens that Storm walked.

Here are a few sites to see....

The CNTower which is 1,815 feet tall with a revolving restaurant at the top. I can recommend eating there you will need a reservation. A helpful hint if you eat at the restaurant you get to bypass the long lines and because you are paying for a great meal you can get to the observation deck for free.

Take a tour or see a Toronto Leaf Hockey game at the Air Canada Center.

The Hockey Hall of Fame for the sport fan and the Royal Ontario Museum for the history buffs there is something for everyone to see in the city.

If you love to shop well you can shop to you drop. The is the Eaton Center which has 4 levels of stores and the center is a city block in size. There is the pathway with is an underground shopping center that goes for miles.

Getting around Toronto is fairly easy there are the trolley cars, buses and the rocket (which is the subway). You can by a day pass that gives you unlimited rides on all the transportation or you can pay $ 2.25 for each way you go.

The night life in Toronto is amazing what ever you will be able to see. Any kind of music, dancing or even if you want a quiet place to sit and talk you will find it in Toronto.

This section of my Wishing I was somewhere else Wednesdays is for Polt from Polt's Palace.

The gay life in Toronto....

Church St is the place to be and be seen. You can sit at a cafe to watch the eye candy go by or shop for your favorite porn. Stop a Zelda's to grab a bite or a waiter which ever you prefer. Drinks of all kinds to be tasted, My favorite at Zelda's is a Busty Bertha vodka with cranberry juice and gummy bears as the garnish. You knew that vodka soak gummy bears would taste so good.

After a day of sightseeing or shopping or cruise Church St where to rest your tired bones and aching feet. There are some many choice of hotels everything from B&B's to 5 star hotels but my favorite at the moment is the Courtyard by Marriott on Younge St it is in the center of everything and the rooms are very nice. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful whatever you need they will get.

There is so much more I can tell you about Toronto however you must go and see for yourself and remember to get the best out of your vacation use a professional travel agent.
