Wishing I was somewhere else Wednesdays #3

This somewhere else is Philadelphia PA. Who knew that a city that is only 2 hours from me by train would be an interesting place.

Getting to Philly is easy and the best way to get there is via train. Amtrak from Harrisburg PA or Baltimore MD takes about 2 hours and it is very relaxing. I found the train ride very soothing and caught a cap nap.

Getting around in Philly. The taxis are everywhere and very easy to get but check with your front desk for taxi rates to your destination or you may get a tour of the city that you were not expecting.

Hotels are everywhere in Philly. My recommendation is the Courtyard by Marriott it is centrally located and within walking distance of all the sights. They have a breakfast buffet to die for and the cost is $ 14.95 including drink.

Sights to see well Philly is rich with history from Ben Franklin to Betsy Ross. There are free shows at Penn's Landing and shopping on every corner. There are free building tours of city hall which is a lovely building to look at and explore.

The sports fan would enjoy a football game with the Eagles or a baseball game with the Phillys or a basketball game with the Sixers. There is something for everyone in Philly.

The food in Philly. The Philly Cheese steak is very popular and is known city wide. There are deli's all over the city. There 5 star restaurants, cafes, and street vendors that will satify anyone's hunger.

So if you want to get away for the weekend the Philly is the place to go. Remember you can book your trip on the internet but a professional travel consultant will get you more value for your dollar.
